Step 3 of BC’s Restart:  Communicable Disease Prevention

The Provincial Health Officer announced that Step 3 of the re-opening plan comes into effect July 1.  As we enter Step 3, we will no longer be required to have a COVID-19 Safety Plan and will instead transition to Communicable Disease Plans.

As part of the gradual shift in operations, local governments are now able to have in-person public attendance at meetings and events as permitted by the recent amendments to the PHO Gatherings and Events Order.  Local government meetings must continue to adhere to the rules for organized gatherings for each step of the restart plan.

Effective October 2021, the District of Metchosin will begin to hold in-person Council and Committee meetings in the Council Chambers.  The number of public attendees will be limited to 18 for a total of 25 persons including Council and staff.   Please note:

  • As per the PHO guidance, masks are strongly recommended when indoors, the District of Metchosin strongly recommends wearing masks inside District facilities.
  • The District will be promoting hand hygiene by providing hand hygiene stations when entering the Municipal Hall
  • Physical distancing is no longer mandatory however the District will maintain the social distancing component of its COVID-19 Safety Plan while transitioning to Step 3

Following the implementation of in-person Council and Committee meetings, meetings will not longer be held virtually via Zoom video conference.
